Stations of the Cross in Poulsbo
Stations of the Cross in Poulsbo
April 10, 2022
Free
This year, North Point Church will again be offering the Stations of the Cross to our church family and community. You might be wondering, “What’s that, and why do it?” Those are good questions.
Stations of the Cross are graphical depictions of up to 14 different events in Christ’s life beginning with his betrayal in the Garden of Gethsemane to the tomb where his disciples laid his body. Each station is accompanied by a corresponding scriptural passage, a brief meditation, and a prayer of praise for God’s love and Christ’s sacrifice for mankind.
We have chosen four of the traditional stations; Christ struggling to carry the cross; Christ on the cross; Christ being taken down from the cross; and Christ in the tomb. They are striking, life-size silhouettes that will help us walk this hard road with Christ.
The Stations of the Cross remind us just how far Jesus went to save us, and what a miracle it truly is that He rose from the grave. Taking time to read, meditate and pray at each station can help us intentionally spend time with Christ, thanking Him, praising Him, and learning from Him.
We encourage you to prayerfully consider who you might invite to experience this opportunity. Many people have no real concept of how profound the impact of Christ’s death and resurrection had on world history, social transformation, human rights and values, and personal redemption. Spending this time with family and friends may well be their best opportunity to begin a spiritual journey to God.
Our stations will be displayed on the lawn just off the entrance to our church building. They will be backlit each night through Holy Week until Easter Sunday.
