Over 50% of the North American retail grocery sales is controlled by five corporations. Most of the food you buy in these stores is not locally produced and the profits generally leave the community. There’s a better way: food co-ops!

Join Kitsap Community Food Co-op for a virtual book discussion of Jon Steinman’s Grocery Story: The Promise of Food Co-ops in the Age of Grocery GiantsBook is available in print and e-book formats through the Kitsap Regional Library. This discussion will take place over two sessions:

  • Wednesday, June 8 from 7-8pm (Chapters 1-4): The history of the grocery industry and how we got here
  • Wednesday, June 22 from 7-8pm (Chapters 5-end): A better way… food co-ops!

Feel free to attend either or both sessions regardless of how much you’ve read.
